In Court Playback progress slider

Slider does not slide so when a judge says "The jury didn't hear that last question. Can you go back 60 seconds?", there is no way to do that without closing the In Court Playback window, resetting the range, then going back into In Court Playback.

 

Any way around that?

Unable to fully uninstall or reinstall

Downloaded and installed and it didn't work, so uninstalled but it only partially uninstalled (I didn't realise) redownloaded and trying to install, but the only option I get is to uninstall and it gives error messages?

Bulk Format Conversion

Hi -

 

I need to convert a large number (over 1000) of these FTR formatted files to regular wav format.  I know the basic "manager" program can do this for one or two at a time easily, but I would like to save myself from having to open each one individually and babysitting the whole process.

 

Is there a way to do this?

Is there any software or way that I can pick up background conversations in the recordings? Any advice would be helpful or appreciated.

One of my clients would like to know other than the standard requirements for the installation of the FTR player 5.6.2, are there other pre-requisites needed? (i.e .Net framework version, visual c++ etc?)

Recording hanging

We are running FTR Reporter on Windows XP.  For the past week it is taking 5 minutes after hitting the record button for the reporter to actually start recording. 

I have seen these messages in Event Properties.

"The FTR Replicator Configuration Service service hung on starting"

and

"Product FTR Reporter - Error 1706. No valid source could be found for product FTR REporter.  The Windows Installer Cannot continue" 

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

FTR Reporter 5.6 will no longer start

I've had FTR Reporter 5.6 installed on a laptop for two years and it's functioned flawlessly.  I attempted to start FTR Reporter this morning and I get an error message "FTR Gold Main has stopped working" every time I try to run it.  The application log in the event viewer shows an error message corresponding to attempts to start the FTR Reporter stating:

 

Event ID 1026 

 

Application:  FTRGoldMain.exe

Frame Work: v4.0.30319

Description: The process was terminated due to an unhanded exception

 

The only changes made to this machine have been to install the recommended Microsoft updates.  Any help would be appreciated.

We currently use an html file to map all of our unc paths.  5.6.1 seems to have an issue with pulling up that file which is located in c:\ftrsettings\ftr\navigator which is what the prior version used.   Is this no longer the place where the file is put ?


Error 1605 and Error 1628 uninstalling FTR player - can't reinstall

Error 1605 and Error 1628:  I have a user that had FTR installed but was having issues.  In an attempt to uninstall, I received these 2 errors. 

 

I used the kb00038 article shown on the community boards here.  But it didn't work.  I also wasn't able to work around the UAC prompt because it's managed at the policy level.  Therefore the C:\Windows\Accesories step didn't work.   What are my options?  I do not want to reimage this user.

Volume levels and separate channels when reformatting to MP3

We're looking to purchase the Access module to TheRecord Manger in order to prep audio for publishing to our website. When we trim the length of the audio track in TheRecord Player, it honors that setting. However, when we bump up the master volume or the volume on a specific channel, the changes don't appear to carry through to the MP3. We would like to boost the over-all volume a bit and suppress the second channel occasionally to weed out background noise.  Are we missing something here?

 

We're using:

Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 (x64)

TheRecord Player 5.6.2.0 build 203

TheRecord Manager - Standard 5.6.1.0 build 200

Acess 5.6.0.0

 

If we can get the volume leveling working, we can proceed with purchasing the Access mod.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Light to indicate when recording is on

I received a request from our Chief Judge to have a Red and Green light in the court room to indicate when the FTR is recording.  So when the record button is pressed the Green light will go on.  When the stop button is pressed then the Green light will go out and the Red light will go on.  Has anyone done anything like this?

ongoing problems with playback

I'm using the latest FTR on Windows 7, because using on Windows 8 was a headache, I was almost done transcribing, halfway through playback, it pauses.  I've gone through the forums, followed all instructions related to my issues, but nothing works.  I have not been able to successfully remove the player from one computer (Windows 8).  I've spent more time addressing the issues than should be necessary.

Hi there,

 

We recently installed a warehouse server for the first time and we’re trying to serve files from a share on a Windows Server 2012 R2 server. We can synchronize everything fine, but when we try to open the files from TheRecord Player we get an error:

 

Open
An unknown error has occurred. (E0D1A00A)

 

System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0xE0D3A005): Unable to locate a suitable way to load the given file.

When you press OK it will re-prompt with that same error message for each session the recording has. After it has errored for each session, it will display another error:

 

Open
An unknown error has occurred. (E0D1A007)

 

The second error has no information in the details panel.

In Windows Event Viewer I get an error in the FTR log:

 

FTR.Warehouse.ContentFinder: Error retrieving results Unable to locate a suitable way to load the given file.

 

I don’t see any errors on the FTR Warehouse Server’s log.

TheRecord Player version: 5.6.2
TheRecord Manager – Warehouse Client: 5.6.1
TheRecord Manager: 5.6.0
TheRecord Manager – Warehouse Server: 5.6.1
FTR Reporter: 5.6.1

I can pull up the recordings if I use the UNC path as the search folder.
I can pull up the recordings if I use the share FTR warehouse makes during installation.
I can pull up the recordings if I use a share on another server that is running Windows Server 2012.

 

At first I thought it might be having problems since we use DFS to point to the share, but using a separate share pathed directly to the FQDN of the server results in the same errors.

The account that runs the warehouse services, the account that accesses the shares, and the account I’m logged in as have full permissions to the shares we have the recordings on. I can read/write/modify all files and folders on the shares with the accounts.

 

I was hoping someone could point me in a new direction on what to check. Thanks in advance for any help or guidance you can give.

McAfee update doesn't like Player 5.5

We are having issues with the The Record Player 5.5.  It appears a patch/software update was pushed down early last week that affected our court reporting software, mainly The Player.  We are getting the same error from the antivirus software, McAfee, on all the computers that have The Player:  "Host Intrusion Prevention Intruder Alert.  Attack Suspicious Function Invocation."  All computers are on a government network running Windows 7, 64-bit.  We've contacted our "IT" people, and they don't have a solution.  I have attached a screenshot of the alert.

 

Any information that we could relay to them in order to fix this problem?  I realize that this is probably more of a network or McAfee issue than it is a Player issue, but maybe someone knows a workaround.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you in advance!

 

 


Reporting criminal misuse of the editing features

When audio files have been illegally manipulated by the Courts , what is the correct protocols in contacting fortherecord .com for assistance and what is the normal timeframe for reply to queries .   I have sent E-mails and sent copies of the illegally distorted files but have gotten no response to date. The request was sent on the 21st July 2014 and the request was confirmed as No 8098.   Is a nine day delay in responding normal and should I wait any further?   How should I proceed?

Merge channel files?

The Record Player 5.6.2.0, Windows 7

 

I received audio for a court proceeding recorded in 2011.  The audio is in four separate files, one channel each.  On channel 1 I can hear the judge clearly but cannot hear the attorneys at all.  On channel 2 I can hear two of the attorneys clearly but the judge sounds garbled.  On channel 3 I can hear another attorney clearly, and so on.

 

Is there a way to merge these files into one so that all channels are available at the same time?  Otherwise, I will have to stop and reload each time the speaker changes.  Please tell me there's another way.

Record Manager error

Trying to open the Record Manager Standard edition and I receive the attached message:

 

"The Specified path, file name, or both are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be less than 248 characters."

 

I have Windows 7 installed and the latest version of the player.
