Multiple errors with The Record Player in Windows 8

I am having a heck of a time installing The Record Player 5.6.2 on my new Windows 8 Desktop.  This is an Acer All in One and I got the program to install, but when I try to open it I get error messages.  

 

This is the first message I get.

 

 

Open
An unknown error has occurred. (E0D1A028)
 
 
System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040154): The RepositoryDirectorFactory has not been registered
   at FTR.TREdge.SearchFolders.SearchFolder.CreateDirector()
   at FTR.TREdge.SearchFolders.SearchFolder.get_RepositoryDirector()

Then I get others like "The repository Directory Factory has not been registered."  
 
I've tried running it in Windows 7 compatibility mode and running it as administrator.  Nothing seems to work. I've spent the entire day on this and I'm hoping someone will have a fix because I use this for my work and soul source of income.  Without this program I won't be able to do 80 percent of my jobs.

Sound disturbance on Reporter Deck 2

Good Day,

 

I have a problem with recording on Reporter Deck 2.

During the recording appears interfering sound , which may be listen in the attached file.

The problem occurs even when there is nothing on the microphone input.

Please help me to solve this problem, which has been bothering me a longer period.

log note 5.6.1.0 issues

We are attempting to migrate our Court stenos to new computer.

Moving them from windows XP to Windows 7 required us to migrate from Log notes 2.2 to Log notes 5.6.1.0

Currently 5.6.1.0 Log notes will find the note,

We click on it and the player will launch, however any file originally created with Log notes 1.3 will not load and play.

 

Files created with Log notes 2.2 or newer will load and play correctly.

Is there something we need to configure to allow the stored 14 years of recordings to load and play?

Cannot install or uninstall

I have been using the player on WIndows 8 for over a year.  Today it would not open any files.  I have tried to uninstall and reinstall following the uninstall instructions.  Now when I try to download the player, it seems to be attempting to uninstall the files that are no longer there and asks me if I want to completely remove the selected application and all its features.  If I click no, it reverts to saying the process couldn't be completed.  If I click yes, it says, "Error 1605 - this action is only valid for products that are currently installed".  It then again says the wizard was interrupted before the Player could be completely installed.  Please help.  I have been trying to get this to work all evening and afternoon.

Error 1905 cannot uninstall or reinstall -- HELP!!!

I work in an office of 3 people and we all use FTR player and have had no problems in the past.  Today all of our FTRs went down (ie: can't open audio, always getting "An unknown error has occurred (E0D1A028)"  messages - I have attached screenshots of all error messages).  

 

So two of us uninstalled FTR so we could reinstall but we then get another error message (Error 1905)

 

I spoke with support and they got me to run the cleanse-V3.exe procedure and that didn't help either.  

 

I emailed support this morning at 11:46 a.m. and now it is 4:04 p.m. and I have heard nothing back.  This is a very significant problem for us so your expeditious attention to this matter would be extremely appreciated.

Unable to fully uninstall or reinstall

Downloaded and installed and it didn't work, so uninstalled but it only partially uninstalled (I didn't realise) redownloaded and trying to install, but the only option I get is to uninstall and it gives error messages?

Bulk Format Conversion

Hi -

 

I need to convert a large number (over 1000) of these FTR formatted files to regular wav format.  I know the basic "manager" program can do this for one or two at a time easily, but I would like to save myself from having to open each one individually and babysitting the whole process.

 

Is there a way to do this?

Cannot reimage FTR Touch

I now have 4 FTR Touch units that are dead.  They had various problems so i went to reimage them.  From the screen, choose reimage, have the flash drive in the usb port, the machine reboots and starts the image process.  They all get to about 17 percent and will not go from there.  i have left them running over the weekend with no results.

 

I contacted FTR and they were going to RMA them but they are not under warranty.  This seems to be a software issue, surely there is a way to reimage the software on these without them having to go back to FTR?

 

Three get stuck on the image screen, i have one that, upon bootup lists the PCI devices and freezes on Verifying DMI Pool Data.

 

Can you point me in the right direction?

TheRecord Player 5.6.2 hangs at "Removing backup files"

We have already tried multiple times to manually removing it and reinstalling it, per your KB00038 - Manually removing TheRecord Player and other FTR software.

We have wiped the systems clean (diskpart/Clean) and installed new clean OS still hangs at "Removing backup files".

Happens on our HP notebooks, Dell Notebooks, Dell Workstations, MPC workstations.

OS is:

Windows 7 Enterprise 32bit SP1

U.S. Army AGM Windows 7 Release 10.0.5

All systems have audio capabilities and a minimum of 4 GB to 8 GB of memory.

Running McAfee VirusSacn Enterprise + AntiSpyware Enterprise 8.8 Scan Engine version (32 bit) 5600.1067

This is happing on all our Staff Judge Advocate computers in our departments across the installation. I presently have experience this on 114 systems I manage. And there are more in other units with the same issue.

Playback will not start after stopped

FTR Gold Playback will not start again after stopping whether using the pedal or mouse.  The recording will playback completely without a problem however when stopped will not start.  Other recordings from the same time frame do not have an issue.  Any ideas why this one recording would be behaving this way?

Please Help. Downloaded Record Player but not working properly

So I had the Record Player working then I tried installing foot pedal and that's where problems started.  Now the foot pedal is working but Record Player won't play whole CD.  It's breaking it up by the time stamps.  Tried uninstalling but keep getting error message.  Please, please help me.

I just got a new computer.  Have used the FTR record player for years.  I've installed it but keep getting the above error message.  The recordings are court downloads, same as we have been using for years.  Any suggestions?

 

The new computer is Windows 8 but has been "configured" to run as Windows 7.  Please be gentle, I am not good at this.

Batch export/conversion of multiple recordings

I am an attorney with audio recordings of hearings. Each hearing is usually divided into at least 10 separate audio recordings. The transcription service I use does not support the FTR file extension. I have now downloaded the Basic FTR Manager program.  I need to know how I can convert all the recordings from a single hearing at one time to pretty much any other audio format so I can use it. Ideally this would also combine all the separate recordings into one final recording. In other words, I want to take 10+ FTR recording and turn them into 1 any other type recording.  Does the Basic Manager do this? If not, what will?

Volume levels and separate channels when reformatting to MP3

We're looking to purchase the Access module to TheRecord Manger in order to prep audio for publishing to our website. When we trim the length of the audio track in TheRecord Player, it honors that setting. However, when we bump up the master volume or the volume on a specific channel, the changes don't appear to carry through to the MP3. We would like to boost the over-all volume a bit and suppress the second channel occasionally to weed out background noise.  Are we missing something here?

 

We're using:

Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 (x64)

TheRecord Player 5.6.2.0 build 203

TheRecord Manager - Standard 5.6.1.0 build 200

Acess 5.6.0.0

 

If we can get the volume leveling working, we can proceed with purchasing the Access mod.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
