Since upgrading my desktop to Windows 7 I have noticed occasionally when transcribing some FTR audio, after several minutes of transcribing a "pop" sound begins to appear approximately every five seconds. This is not a feature of the audio itself, as stopping and starting the audio at time markers where the noise appears will not replicate the sound at the same time point, rather it seems dependent on having the audio playing rather than the specific time it is playing at. I have tried both using my foot pedal to play the audio as well as simply clickign the play button, and it is present in both cases. Is there some way I can prevent this?
