Use of partitions for FTR 5.6.X

HI all,

Just referring to KB00091 - FTR Reporter 2.x - Partition Size, and KB00092.

      Problem Description :-
What is the recommended recording folder/partition size for FTR Gold Reporter?
FTR Gold uses a flat folder system to record all audio on the recording workstation (Local drives only).

Limitations of the Windows operating system and enumeration of the folders during the recording FIFO process means
that this recording function has a reduction in performance as and when the files in a folder start to exceed 4000 or more.

      Solution :-
FTR recommends two ways to solve this issue
      1.      Set your recording folder on a separate partition from the operating partition (Default normally C Drive)
      2.      The separate recording partition should not exceed 5.2GB in size to reduce the amount of files in the recording folder to a manageable level for the OS to function.

Is this still the case with FTR 5.6.X?

At present, we use a partitioning application to vary the standard build for enterprise deployment.  For reasons I won't go into here (mainly supportability), it would be preferred not to do this anymore, especially moving operating systems.  With files becoming larger due to more channels, the number of files should drop anyway.

Is it the case that as long as the destination directory for recordings continues to be cleared, FTR should perform quite happily?
Or will not using a partition cause FTR issues?

Thanks.
