Error after recordings were moved, Index appear incorrect

$

We are reorganizing our FTR recordings between locations as well as saving the recordings into smaller year folders to improve search speed.  The FTR files were moved to another share and divided by year with a year folder as the root folder.  All new recordings still archive to the original network share.  After moving the older FTR recordings the original search path continues to show all FTR recordings that use to be in the folder, however the audio no longer lives in this location.  When trying to open an error is returned "An unknown error has occurred. (E0D1A00A)"

There are now multiple search paths, one for each year, if the correct year search path is used the audio opens without error.  So this appears to be an issue with the index that shows the available audio for the original search path.

I am not sure if there is a file that needs to be deleted to allow the player to rebuild the new structure, or if the original file location needs re-cataloged to resolve the issue.

Trying to burn some audio to an audio cd from The Record Manager. Receive and error "The disc did not pass burn verification and may contain corrupt data or be unusable. (0xC0AA007)". Have tried a some different types of CD-R's and I get the same error. Seems to be a couple of specific audio. I've tried other audio and it works. Should I be looking for an issue? Maybe something to do with the stop points in the audio?

Thank you,

John

Installing Log Notes 5.1 on 64bit Windows 7

$

I am trying to install Log Notes 5.1 on a Windows 7 64bit computer. I get through the install prompts and then after I enter my Serial Number and Product Key, I get a generic error that says Log Notes could not be installed correctly. After I click OK, I get a dialog box that displays a DLL error. After clicking OK once more, I get a box that explains I have installed Log Notes in Admin mode and will only be able to make changes to the options.

Has anybody had any success with installing Log Notes 5.1 on a 64bit machine?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Developing a Mac client

$

The year is 2027. The global network of information connects and envelops us more fully than ever. Mega-corps have fully supplanted all "official" forms of government with their commercial interests.

District courts, however, remain cheap as ever and lack employees with technical knowhow. So they still use For The Record software because they don't know any better. Truly, this is a dystopian future!

"I've jacked into the mainframe!" The shout comes from our handsome protagonist, working feverishly underneath his laser-matrix enhanced reality goggles. The bold IT hero is hard at work, using his considerable talents to deliver swift results for the mid-sized law firm that employees him. There's a round of cheers and applause from the appreciative attorneys, all of them eager to listen back to the audio recording of a recent trial from the City-clave District Court (justice sponsored by Pepsi™).

"Oh, no wait." The IT worker adopts a defeated posture and shakes his head. "I need to email these files to my home computers, because my laser-matrix goggle are made by Apple."  The attorneys cease their celebration and palpable sadness sets overtakes the room.

"Don't worry" consoles the rakishly good-looking IT worker. He slides off his goggles, declaring "I'm sure there will be a Mac client for FTR files any year now. People keep mentioning it online, so it must be obvious there's a need. And it would be pretty easy to develop, so we must be close."

"I hope you're right" says one of the boring attorneys.

"I hope you're right" he repeats for dramatic emphasis.

"I hope you're right" he says a third time because his OCD compels him to utter the phrase once more.

Fortherecord cuts out and freezes up.

Our court system recently purchased FTR 5.6.2 so we could install it on a windows 7 pc. After installing and configuring, it seemed to work fine in my test. However when the court used it they claimed it was cutting out after awhile. Since I am from IT and can not be present during court I have to go by their complaints, I can't be there to witness it and get a better idea of what is happening. Our court runs reporter (recording) and player (to verify proper recording) simultaneously. When this problem was identified I ask if they would time stamp when ever this occured so I could maybe identify something in the event log that possibly be causing this. Nothing really stood out. We even removed our virus protection for a few days to see if it was causing the issue. This did not have any effect. I asked the lady who runs FTR during court to go back listen to the previous recordings at the time stamps she said it was cutting out to see if the recording was actually cutting out. When she went back to listen to it, she claimed the recording was good (no cutting out of the audio). So to me it appears that the player is temporarily freezing up when reporter is recording and player is running simultaneously. Has anyone seen this before? Any tips would help.

The PC is plenty robust running 64bit Windows 7 Sp1 with 8GB of memory

I am also having HUGE problems with player freezing (but still running in background - when it un-freezes it's not at the same audio point where it first froze).

I am using Windows 8.

There is a fix in the forums about compatability..I did get some improvement with that but would be keen to learn more if FTR gurus can help.

Foot pedal question

I just downloaded FTR and have a foot pedal already that I use to transcribe depositions for private attorneys using Digital Voice Editor. I am attempting to transcribe a court hearing and would like to use the same foot pedal, but it doesn't operate when I attempt to review the hearing using FTR.  Does anyone know of a download that will allow me to use the same foot pedal?  Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Will not play back

Hi!  I am having trouble simply opening audio files and playing them back.  (I've used this program in the past and had no problems.)

I am operating Windows 7.  I have recently uninstalled older version of FTR and installed up-to-date version of the free player.

This is the error message I get:

"An error occurred while attempting to start playback.  Reload content and try again.  (0x80004005)"

This happens no matter the file type.  I am not aware if these were recorded on FTR equipment.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Reporter Deck - Record Other Audio?

$

We have a new teleconferencing system at work.  The tech feels audio from the new ceiling microphones can be recorded on the Reporter Deck using the input connection on the back.  We recorded a short conversation and I archived and saved the audio to a FTR Gold CD.  There was no sound on the CD.  I noticed that the CD contains FTR wave files and the test file contained only "wave" files.  It appears that the Reporter Deck is proprietory and will only record FTR wave files.  Am I correct?

Thanks!

Problem copying audio to CD in Record Manager

$

Hi guys, hoping someone on here can give me some advice on an issue one of our users is having with For The Record.

She uses The Record Player to access court audio recordings, then links from this to The Record Manager in order to copy the recordings to CDs.   However this is not working as it should on a particular recording.

The user selects the portion of audio to be copied, and is told that 4 discs will be required.   The process begins, and the first three discs complete, but then it does not move onto the fourth.  The three existing discs play fine, but cut off at the end of disc three mid audio.

To get around this she has manually tried to manually copy the final part of the audio onto a disc, and receives a message that the disc did not pass burn verification and may contain corrupt data or be unusable.  The error code is 0XC0AA0007.  This has been tried four times, each time using new CDs, but getting the same error.

Is working on a Windows 7 (Enterprise N - 64-bit) PC with 4GB RAM.  Let me know if you need any more info, screenshots etc.
